Maintain your English this summer

Everyone deserves a good holiday, but is taking a break from your English a good idea? As the saying goes, ‘Practice makes perfect’. With a little planning, you can use the summer months to maintain and even improve your language skills and be ready to hit the ground running when you start your English course at ECP in September or October.

FACE-TO-FACE OPPORTUNITIES

Do you know any English speakers? Why not meet up with your fellow students for a coffee during the summer? When you are on holiday, take advantage of every opportunity to chat in English.

A GOOD BOOK FOR THE BEACH

Don’t forget to pack an English novel before you head for the beach. If you think reading a novel in English might be a bit of a challenge, there are plenty of other options such as graded readers or comics. Whatever you read, it is a great way to augment your English vocabulary. ECP has a wide range of books you are welcome to borrow for the summer. Just send John a WA on 657731354 and pop in to choose a book.

LISTEN TO THE AUDIO BOOK WHILE YOU READ

If you use a device to read your books, why not listen and read at the same time? It’s a great way to focus on and improve your pronunciation.

WATCH YOUR FAVOURITE SERIES AND MOVIES WITH ENGLISH AUDIO AND/OR SUBTITLES

We have easy access to series and films in English on various platforms. Come to the famous ECP CINE NIGHTS on Friday, June 30th at 18.45 and you’ll discover how easy and enjoyable it is — a great way to celebrate the end of your course.

USE ECP RESOURCES

We have a wide range of materials, including videos with advice on how to REDUCE YOUR SPANGLISH which are free to use. Check out the massive bank of ECP’s WEEKLY ENGLISH PRACTICE.

So, enjoy your summer holidays, wherever you are going, but don’t forget your English, and see you all in September or October!
